Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Mammatus Weather (“Mammatus,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use Mammatus Weather Web, including its account, subscription, mapping, radar, satellite, model, alert, and sharing features.

Information we process

Account and authentication information

Account creation and sign-in are provided by Clerk. Clerk may process information such as your name, email address, authentication credentials, verification data, profile information, session information, and security signals. We receive the account identifiers and profile details needed to provide and secure your Mammatus account. We do not receive your password from Clerk.

Subscription and payment information

Subscription management is provided through Clerk Billing and Stripe. They process payment details and may provide us with subscription status, plan, renewal, payment status, transaction identifiers, and limited billing details. Payment-card numbers are submitted to and processed by the payment providers; Mammatus does not store complete card numbers on its own servers.

Technical and usage information

When the service is used, our infrastructure and service providers may automatically process IP address, browser and device details, timestamps, requested pages or data, security events, and diagnostic logs. Map preferences may be saved locally in your browser. A map viewport or selected product may be included in a URL or exported image only when you choose to share it.

How information is used

• Provide accounts, subscriptions, weather data, maps, exports, and customer support.
• Authenticate users, enforce plan access, prevent abuse, and protect the service.
• Operate, diagnose, measure, and improve application reliability and performance.
• Process payments, maintain subscription records, and communicate service or account notices.
• Comply with law and enforce our Terms of Service.

Service providers and disclosures

We disclose information only as needed to operate the service, including to:

• Clerk, for identity, authentication, accounts, and billing interfaces.
• Stripe, for payment and subscription processing.
• Cloudflare, for network delivery, security, and availability.
• Mapbox, for map rendering and related map services.
• Government, academic, and weather-data providers, including NOAA/NWS and Unidata, when requests or attribution are required to provide weather products.

We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect users or the service, or as part of a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets. Mammatus does not sell personal information for money.

Cookies and local storage

Clerk and our infrastructure use cookies or similar storage necessary for authentication, security, session continuity, and subscription access. The app may also use browser storage for preferences such as map style. Blocking necessary storage may prevent account or application features from working.

Retention and security

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, maintain business and subscription records, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and protect against abuse. Retention by Clerk, Stripe, Mapbox, Cloudflare, and other providers is governed by their own policies. We use reasonable safeguards, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security.

Your choices and rights

You can review or update available account details through the Account interface and manage or cancel a subscription through Billing. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, or restriction of personal information. Requests may be made through the support contact published on the Mammatus Weather website. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.

Children

Mammatus Weather Web is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Users must also meet any higher minimum age required in their jurisdiction.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the Early Access service, its features, or its providers change. The effective date above will be updated when changes are published. Material changes may also be communicated through the service or account email.
